2019 Estate Red Blend
A step above our entry level Chances R Columbia Valley Red Blend, the Walla Walla Estate Red Blend offers an introduction to our other single varietal and sub-appellated wines with a crowd pleasing blend of Bordeaux varieties. As one of the most affordable estate wines from the Walla Walla Valley, our red blend appeals both to the serious Walla Walla collector and the novice wine drinker who is trying the region for the first time.
Tasting notes
Creme de Cassis and brambly blackberries show off in this primarily Cab and Merlot blend. It is soft and supple with a slightly chewy finish.
Production notes
All Watermill wines are hand-picked late in seasons for maximum ripeness. They are then gently pressed in small volumes and undergo inoculated fermentation in 1 to 1.5 ton small lot fermenters. The wine sits on the skins for more than two weeks where it undergoes additional maceration through punch downs and pump overs for color and tannin integration before being transferred to barrel. All reds age for between 12 and 16 months in a combination of new and neutral medium toast French and American oak before bottling.
