The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater is renowned for its distinctive cobblestone soils and unique microclimate, which contribute to the exceptional quality of the grapes. This specific vineyard's rocky terrain provides excellent drainage and optimal sun exposure, allowing the grapes to develop rich and complex flavors. The terroir is ideal for Syrah, imparting notable aromatics and intense fruit character.
Harvest and Production
The 2020 Syrah from the Rocks District is crafted with 99% Syrah and 1% Viognier. This wine underwent a 50% whole cluster fermentation in stainless steel, enhancing its structure and complexity. It was then aged for 18 months in 75% new French oak barrels, which imparted additional layers of flavor and a refined texture.
