2020 Estate Red Blend
Vineyard Notes
This Bordeaux blend is crafted from grapes sourced from three exceptional vineyards in the Walla Walla Valley: Anna Marie Vineyard, Dugger Creek Vineyard, and McClellan Vineyard. These vineyards are known for their distinct terroirs, which contribute to the wine's complexity and depth. The Walla Walla Valley's climate and soil composition, including well-drained loam and unique microclimates, provide ideal conditions for growing Bordeaux varietals.
Harvest and Production
The 2022 Bordeaux blend features all five noble varieties, showcasing the best of each vineyard. The blend comprises 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, and 4% Malbec. The wine was aged for 20 months in 28% new French oak barrels, enhancing its structure and adding layers of flavor. The final blend was bottled on July 28, 2022, resulting in a limited production of 240 cases.
Terroir
The unique terroirs of Anna Marie, Dugger Creek, and McClellan Vineyards play a crucial role in the wine's profile. The combination of these vineyards' diverse soils and climatic conditions imparts distinct characteristics to the blend. The terroir contributes to the wine's rich aromatics and complex flavor profile, featuring notes of baked cherry, anise, and hints of tobacco on the nose, with lavender, nutmeg, and pepper on the palate.
