2020 McClellan Vineyard Estate Petit Verdot
Vineyard Notes
Located where the valley floor meets the rolling Palouse hills in the southeastern corner of the Walla Walla Valley, McClellan Vineyard spans 16 acres. This site features shallow silt loam soils and low elevation, ideal for producing fruit-forward, complex Bordeaux varietals.
Harvest and Production
This 100% Petit Verdot wine is crafted from McClellan Vineyard and produced in limited quantities, with only 75 cases made. The vineyard utilizes a combination of Fan Trellis and Vertical Shoot Position (VSP) training to maximize cluster ripening and minimize sun exposure on Umapine silt loam soils. The wine was aged for 22 months in 75% new French oak barrels, various coopers enhancing its complexity and depth. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks, with twice-daily pump-overs to maintain varietal integrity.
Terroir
Soil: Shallow silt loam
