2021 Hallowed Stones Cabernet Franc
Vineyard and Terroir
This Cabernet Franc is sourced from the renowned Rocks District of Milton-Freewater, where vines are rooted directly into ancient river stones. Low-hanging fruit maximizes exposure to radiant heat from the rocks, while deep roots draw minerality, creating a wine rich in character and terroir. The unique growing conditions impart earth-driven complexity, vibrant fruit, and signature herbal qualities.
Production
Made from 100% estate-grown Cabernet Franc, this wine was aged for 18 months in a thoughtful combination of 25% new French and 13% new American oak, softening the tannins and adding elegant layers of spice and vanilla. Fermentation preserved the wine’s bright aromatics and classic varietal character.
Tasting Notes
The nose opens with smoky aromatics, Bing cherry, and candied orange peel, followed by delicate hints of rose petal and leather. On the palate, vibrant blackberry and bell pepper mingle with crushed gravel minerality and subtle vanilla. A touch of thyme spice and almond adds complexity to the soft, lingering finish. Balanced and inviting, this Cabernet Franc is a beautiful expression of the Rocks District’s unique terroir—equally enjoyable now or with additional cellaring.
