2021 Hallowed Stones Syrah
Vineyard and Terroir
The Hallowed Stones Syrah comes from our estate vineyards in the iconic Rocks District of Milton-Freewater. Here, vines are rooted directly into ancient river stones, with low-hanging grape clusters benefiting from the radiant warmth of the sun-heated rocks. This unique terroir imparts profound minerality, savory complexity, and vibrant fruit character. The resulting wine beautifully reflects the power and elegance of the Rocks District, delivering unmistakable site expression with every sip.
Production
This 2021 vintage is a limited, small-lot production of 192 cases, composed of 99% Syrah and 1% Viognier. Half the fruit underwent whole-cluster fermentation in stainless steel to enhance structure and aromatics. The wine was then aged for 18 months in 75% new French oak, adding layers of spice, toast, and richness while preserving the vibrant fruit expression that defines this wine.
Tasting Notes
Lush and inviting from the first swirl, this Syrah opens with aromas of stewed strawberries, ripe raspberries, and delicate floral notes. The palate is layered with flavors of dark blueberry, savory spice, light pepper, vanilla, and cocoa, interwoven with hints of lavender and anise. A rich, exotic mouthfeel and smooth, rounded tannins lead to a lingering finish accented by subtle toast and brioche. Complex and captivating, this wine reveals new flavors with every sip, making it a true showstopper from the Rocks District.
