2020 Anna Marie Cabernet Sauvignon
Vineyard and Terrior
Anna Marie Vineyard, Watermill’s premier Bordeaux-producing vineyard, is located high in the foothills of the Blue Mountains at the southern end of the Walla Walla Valley. This 87-acre site features sandy loam soils with hot days and cool fall nights, creating ideal conditions for red varietals. Its unique location on a distinct hill of blown-in loess provides optimal sun exposure, adjacent to some of the valley's best Cabernet vineyards.
Harvest and Production Notes
The 2020 Anna Marie Cabernet Sauvignon was handpicked on October 8, 2020. The grapes fermented on their skins for two weeks in a concrete egg, then were gently racked into new French oak barrels from various premium coopers. The wine aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak, with a total production of 102 cases.
Tasting Notes
A generous load of blackberry jam and creamy caramels fills the palate, complemented by hints of charcoal and graphite. Dark black currants and juicy blackberries further enhance the flavor profile. The lush, mouth-coating tannins lead to a finish that lingers for over a minute, showcasing the exceptional quality of this Cabernet Sauvignon.
